Minister of Justice Francis Fitzgerald announced the appointments last week. The club wish Colm and the Nevin family every success and happiness in Ballyshannon.

Best of luck to Summerhill College in Connacht Colleges SFC final

Summerhill Senior Football team take on Roscommon C.B.S. in the Connacht A Colleges Final in Carrick on Shannon on Saturday. The Club is backboned by a number of St. John’s Club players who feature prominently namely Paul McNamara, Alex Selby, Brian McGowan, Cathal Jordan, Conor McGovern, Cian Hough, Emmett Flanagan and Evan Tuffy.

In the league final between the two teams it was Summerhill who came out on top by a 10 points margain. Saturday’s final is predicated to be a much closer affair.

In the semi-final Summerhill overcame St. Jarleth’s of Tuam by two points after extra time. Our club players Paul McNamara, Alex Selby and Brian McGowan all put in sterling performance for the college. Brian McGowan ran himself to a standstill as a roving corner forward covering every inch of the centre of excellence pitch in Ballyhaunis while at the opposite end of the park attacking corner back Alex Selby moved forward with intent at every opportunity.

Centre half back Paul McNamara once again put in a man of the match performance and tore through the heart of the St. Jarleth’s defence with penetrating runs.
