Spratt outstanding as Calry/St. Joseph’s take the points
For the second time in a week the
St. John’s U-16’s struggled to field a full
team and had just 11 players starting against Calry/St. Joseph’s in Stenson Park on
Sunday. Joe Spratt again gave an
outstanding display and was once again the team’s top scorer and finished with
a fine personal tally of 3-1
.
Shane Egan was a reliable free
taker putting over 2 pointed frees over the bar in the first half. Carly went
in at half time with a slender 3 point advantage after an exciting 30 minutes
of football. Half time score was St.John’s
3-3 Calry/St. Joseph’s 3-6.
As the second half progressed
Calry/St. Joseph’s pulled away from a tiring St. John’s who tried to keep in
touch. St. John’s goalie Josh McLoughlin
made a number of timely saves and was ably assisted by Darragh Flemming at full
back. Midfielder Adam Grace also went through great work in the centre of the
park.
Final Score: U16 B League : St. John’s 3-5 Calry St.Joseph’s
4-15
