Mooney magnificent in goals
The clocks went
forward on Saturday evening and goalkeeper Fiachra Mooney helped St. John’s to
spring into summer with an eye catching performance in goals. Although defeated there was much to savour
from Fergal Henry’s charges.
St. John’s second team took on near neighbours
Owenmore Gaels in Round 2 of the Division 3 league on Saturday last in Stenson
Park. The match was played in difficult
conditions leaving top class football at a premium. At half time Owenmore Gaels lead 0-5 to 0-1.

Goalkeeper Fiachra Mooney giving a stand out man of the match
performance at no.1 kept out the Gaels with some timely saves. Conor Brennan & Conor Sweeney added
second half points for the Saints.
In the closing minutes Owenmore Gaels managed to
weather the St. John’s storm to pull clear and win out by 1-13 to 0-4.
