Mooney magnificent in goals

The clocks went forward on Saturday evening and goalkeeper Fiachra Mooney helped St. John’s to spring into summer with an eye catching performance in goals.  Although defeated there was much to savour from Fergal Henry’s charges.

St. John’s second team took on near neighbours Owenmore Gaels in Round 2 of the Division 3 league on Saturday last in Stenson Park.  The match was played in difficult conditions leaving top class football at a premium.  At half time Owenmore Gaels lead 0-5 to 0-1. St. John’s solitary point coming from the boot of Cathal Jordan.

In the closing minutes Owenmore Gaels managed to weather the St. John’s storm to pull clear and win out by 1-13 to 0-4.

The St.John’s team on duty was Fiachra Mooney, Evan Tuffy, Jamie McGovern, Ronan Kelly, Conor Brennan, Andrew Kerr, Conor Sweeney, James Noonan, John Reilly, Keelan Kelly, Cathal Jordan, Cian Haugh, Eamon Dolan, John McNulty and Paul McLean.
