Sligo Sport Monthly Newspaper

Sligo sports paper planned

Sligo is to have its own sports newspaper with it being available the first week of each month free of charge. Sligo Sport was launched at the beginning of October and will be published every month. According to Seamus Casey, editor of Sligo Now and Mature Living, the publication will act in partnership with sports associations and participants. It will focus particularly on so called minority sports, school sports and young people's sports clubs. It will also report on all other sports.

Sligo Sport plans to provide a monthly results service for most of the sports taking place in Sligo. With numerous sports and leisure associations catering for the sporting needs of Sligo's growing population, Sligo Sport will give these clubs coverage. The newspaper will be an 56 page tabloid, with colour throughout. It will be available in over 100 outlets across Sligo county.

Sligo Sport will have regular coverage of cycling, surfing, fishing, rallying, road races, gymnastics and endurance sports. It will offer similar coverage to basketball, tennis, rowing, boxing, horse events, pitch and putt and much much more. The sports paper will also include leisure pages covering sports fashion, training and nutritonal tips.

If your club would like to submit pictures and reports on what is happening in your organisation send them to seamus@sligosport.ie or contact him on 085 2498067.
