St.John’s hit for six.

St.John’s hit for six.

Goals win games and unfortunately for St. John’s despite a promising start the Club’s U-16’s succumbed to three second half goals which proved the difference in the end.

St. John’s U-16 squad started well against Coolera/Strandhill in Ransboro this evening and was 1-3 to the good after just 10 minutes. Joe Spratt again was the main striking threat for St. John’s scoring 1-1 while Ronan McGoldrick & Cathal Byrne also adding points.
Coolera struck back with a penalty on 17 minute and added two more goals to go into the interval with a four point advantage leading by 3-5 to 2-4.

In the centre of the park Adam Grace & Cathal Byrne carried knocks and this severely hampered the Carraroe’s sides chances.
Coolera stretched their lead adding 3-4 after half time while St. John’s could only manage to raise the white flag twice after the break.
Best for St. John’s was Padraic Hanabury in goals who pulled off a number of great saves and was ably assisted by Daire Fleming. Joe Spratt continues to shine in the forward line but he was starved of good possession in order to test the Coolera/Strandhill defence.

Final score: U-16 B Group 1 Round 4: St. John’s 2-6 Coolera/Strandhill 6-9.
