U-12 Fl Div 4 Rd 6: St. John's 0-14 St.Molaise Gaels 0-16 (Played Tuesday evening)

Agonizing defeat for St. John’s against St. Molaise Gales

Five points down in the last quarter St. John’s U-12 B team put in a storming finish to draw level with time almost up. The team looked to have done enough to secure at least a point but two late late scores from Molaise Gaels scuppered the St. John’s revival.

The team deserved at least a draw . It was a very close contest throughout with both teams exchanging the lead. St.John’s defence held firm with the trio of Sean Moore, Benedict Nwani & Mark Lyttle in goals all playing solidly.

At midfield Cormac Roddy kept driving forward while upfront Aine Gorman & Ciaran Quinn landed great scores over the bar.
In the third quarter St. John’s brought on a number of substitutes but it was St. Molaise Gaels that finished strongly taking a commanding 0-14 to 0-9 lead going into the final quarter.

The final quarter belonged St. John’s who bravely battled back in contention reeling off 5 points without reply. But two late scores in the last minute dashed the St. John’s comeback.

Overall it was another excellent team display with the forwards taking their scores and more encouragingly amassing 0-14 for the match.

Best for St. John’s were Sean Moore, Aine Gorman & Cormac Ruddy

The team are in third position behind St. Mary’s on 10 points followed by St. Molaise Gaels on 9 and one point further behind is St. John’s on 8. Next week St. John’s take on fourth placed Drumcliffe/Rosses Point in Cleveragh on Tuesday evening next at 7.00 p.m.
