The First Nursery programme run by
Saint John's G.A.A Club for 5 and 6 year olds concluded last Wednesday night at Cleveragh
Football pitch. This hugely successful programme was run over the last six
weeks with the help of the Games Promotion Officer for County Sligo Liam Og
Gormley and the sponsorship of Seamus & Nuala Flanagan of Flanagan Cycles
Cleveragh.
The Club would also like to take this opportunity to thank our other Sponsors which added to the success of this event Diane Middleton of Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership and the Urban Committee under the Chairmanship of John Clifford. We would also like to acknowledge the help received from the teachers in the local Primary Schools namely St. John's Temple Street, Mercy National Pearse Road and St. Enda's Carroroe. Their help in the promotion of the event was very beneficial. We would also like to thank the many parents for bringing their children to the event and we hope your child enjoyed their experience and will return for more fun in the near future. A big thank you to Nuala Flanagan who had a Goody Bag for each child last Wednesday evening.
Over the six week period we catered for an average of thirty children each evening and one of the full time coaches from the County Board was present to give the children their first introduction to Gaelic Games in a fun and safe environment. The club supplied five coaches each evening to help the smooth running of the event. The weather even shone for the six weeks. The feedback from the Parents was very positive and the children certainly enjoyed their experience. This programme looks set to become an annual fixture on the St. John's training programme.
Saint John's would like to again thank our sponsors Seamus & Nuala Flanagan of Flanagan Cycles, Liam Og Gormley the County Sligo Games Promotion Officer, Sligo Sports and Recreation Partnership, the Urban Committee all the Coaches from both our club and players Jason Farrell, Charlie Harrison, Daniel Smith, Ross Gordon, Cameron Keaney, Shane Egan, Conor King, Cathal Jordan, Fergal Kelly, Ann Kelly and Danielle Keaney.
